What went into creating the magic of Disney? How did they create such a special culture and unique customer experience that makes it the happiest place on earth? Today you meet the man in charge of building that culture, Lee Cockerell. Lee was the Executive Vice President of Disneyworld and literally wrote the book that was used to craft the Disney culture.
My whole reason for doing this podcast is to help you accelerate your progress toward achieving your goals. If you would like to speak with me, I would be happy to spend some time with you on the phone. You can book some time here.
“Its not magic that makes Disneyworld work, it’s the way we work that makes it magical” – Lee Cockerell
Key Points from Our Conversation
There are a few keys to setting any business up for success:
Hire the right people. We often hire to fast and fire too slow. Take your time and make sure you are hiring the right people from the beginning.
Be clear about your expectations
Training – Be fanatical about training your people, testing them on what they learn, and enforcing what you trained.
Culture – create a culture where everyone matters and they know they matter.
If you don’t spend the time to plan the life that you DO want, you will spend a lot of time living a life you DO NOT want.
Ask yourself – what do you want to change about your life, your job, your boss, and your relationships? What are you going to do about it?
Then think about where you spend your time. Where should you be spending it? Where should you not spend it? Where are you wasting time?
